What is GBR SHRM?

The Greater Baton Rouge Society for Human Resource Management is one of nine Affiliate Chapters of The Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) in the State of Louisiana.

Who should join?

GBR SHRM and SHRM are individual membership organizations. Members include individuals in a diverse range of HR related fields such as employee management, payroll, benefits, recruiting, legal, and consulting. Members also have a range of titles and responsibilities including, but not limited to:

Membership Details

Membership now operates on a rolling 12-month basis, beginning the day you join (as of 3/20/25 new bylaws ratification).
Current members may renew one year from their join date.
Membership includes Monthly Chapter Meetings with complimentary meal.

Affiliate Membership - $578.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments Affiliate membership is available to individuals outside the foregoing membership categories who are affiliated with a company that provides a human resource-related service or product, such as relocation services, benefit plans, legal services, employment, temporary placement, etc. Affiliate members should be engaged in providing a product and/or service to the human resource management community; major classifications include human resources management service providers and individuals who work in a sales capacity. The number of affiliate members will not exceed 15% of total Chapter membership. Once the 15% is reached, then no new affiliate members will be admitted. Only two affiliate members per company will be permitted. Affiliate members are required to sponsor (either financially or "in kind" to a minimum value determined by the Board) a minimum of one meeting, newsletter, event, etc. each membership year. The number of affiliate members will not include those members who, due to a change of roles, move from another membership category to affiliate membership. Affiliate members may vote and hold office in the Chapter.

General Membership - $228.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments General membership is available to individuals who are engaged as one or more of the following: (a) practitioners of human resource management and/or have a bona fide interest in human resource management and the mission of the Chapter; (b) certified by a human resources certifying organization recognized by SHRM; (c) faculty members holding an instructor, assistant, associate or full professor rank in human resource management or any of its specialized functions at an accredited college or university; (d) fulltime consultants practicing in the field of human resource management; and/or (e) full-time attorneys in counseling and advising clients on matters relating to the human resource profession. General members may vote and hold office in the Chapter.

Student Membership - $49.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments Student membership is available to individuals who (a) are not employed full-time in a human resources capacity; (b) are enrolled either as full-time or part-time students, at freshman standing or higher; (c) are enrolled in the equivalent of at least six (6) credit hours; (d) are enrolled in a four-year or graduate institution and/or a consortium of these or a two-year community college with a matriculation agreement between it and a four-year college or university which provides for automatic acceptance of the community college students into the four-year college or university; (e) are able to provide verification of a demonstrated emphasis in human resource management subjects; (f) are able to provide verification of the college or university's human resources or related degree program; and (g) and who otherwise do not qualify as a general member. Student members may not vote or hold office in the Chapter.
